Quantity Surveyor - New Build Housing

Kitson Associates is working with an established housebuilder who is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in Nottinghamshire. You'll join a close-knit commercial team and report to the Commercial Manager.

Key responsibilities

• You'll take commercial ownership of two live developments, plus a possible third site that is either starting up or finishing off.
• Prepare and manage site budgets, cost plans and cost-to-complete forecasts
• Value subcontractor work, process monthly valuations and agree final accounts
• Support the Procurement Manager with tendering, subcontractor selection and awarding packages
• Manage variations, contra charges and commercial disputes with subcontractors and suppliers
• Produce accurate monthly cost reports and commercial reviews for the Commercial Manager
• Visit sites regularly to measure work, check progress and build strong relationships with site teams
• Spot and act on opportunities to protect margin and control costs
• Keep commercial records up to date in the company's systems (COINS or similar)

About you

• You might be an Assistant QS ready to step up, or a Quantity Surveyor looking for broader responsibility.
• Essential: Minimum two years' quantity surveying experience working for a UK housebuilder
• Confident handling several trades, subcontractors and deadlines at once
• Commercially minded, with sound judgement on cost and value
• Happy to work from the office five days a week and visit sites as needed
• Full UK driving licence and within a reasonable commute of Nottinghamshire

Desirable:

• Knowledge of COINS, although training can be given
• A relevant qualification (HNC, HND or degree in Quantity Surveying or similar), or working towards one.
